Whitespace were delighted to be awarded the design and fit out contract for Gordon’s Electrical Supplies new showroom in Ballynahinch.

Gordon’s, one of Northern Irelands oldest electrical wholesalers established in 1980, supplies the electrical trade with an extensive collection of lighting and electrical products, cables and other electrical consumables.

The existing showroom space wasn’t working well, it was tired and lacked flexibility plus there was a desire to showcase their extensive portfolio of commercial and domestic fittings in a live working environment. Whitespace were given a free hand to design a modern and vibrant showroom that could adapt to change as the business and portfolio expanded. Key to the showroom was a bespoke new trade counter to greet visitors and display some of the small specialist led light fittings. The counter was designed to accommodate current DDA requirements and house two members of staff either seated or standing.

The perimeter walls were fitted with grey grooved slat wall, enabling large and smaller products to be displayed either on adjustable shelving or wire hooks, and importantly, providing flexibility and ease of change. The light display panels were designed to enable visitors to select a light fitting and see it lit. Likewise, with deck and bollard light fittings set in a realistic setting.

Gordon’s have a strong corporate identity and were keen to maintain their strong brand throughout the new showroom.  We used their corporate blue on header panels and plinths, and on the front of the counter and the doors to low level storage which were designed for storing faster moving items. This was also reflected in the colour selection for all the finishes throughout the new interior and re-carpeting of the existing offices.

Whitespace also handled the graphic design elements and all new signage internal and externally.
